I've always been a "water" person - swimming, water skiing, scuba diving, sailing - and yes, even my birthday is a "water" sign month! So it was inevitable that my second career was in biotreatment of contaminated wastewater for industrial generators along the Texas Gulf Coast and in Venezuela.
The technologies used to clean polluted water were not proprietary - mine wasn't the only company to oxygenate water to promote more rapid cleansing. During the seventeen years in this industry, my company designed, fabricated and installed subsurface systems to provide oxygen to water being treated in large lagoons and catchment basins.
One day, it occurred to me that an important quality might be missing in the water my family and I were drinking at home. We lived in a rural area and drank well water from the tap. Sure enough, when I measured the oxygen content in it, I wasn't really surprised to find there was almost no oxygen at all - which makes scientific sense, since well water never interfaces with air.
I thought, hmmm - our bodies are about 2/3 water and every cell requires oxygen to function properly. Is this no-oxygen water OK for us to drink? From notes I have found, this was early in 2000.
I went to the internet and finding no answer there, I visited the Houston Public and Rice University libraries. This would be the beginning of research that continues to this day. Nowhere in medical textbooks, in research studies, in books on biology, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics could I find the technical answers I sought.
But enough ancillary data existed to propel us forward. Connecting the enormous volume of proven facts derived from my research convinced my husband and me that the next steps we took would be very important - for us and for those who would "get" the importance of drinking oxygenated water.
We began the uncharted journey that resulted in a US Patent, and TheBigPitcher. It's been a roller coaster ride, certainly, but we are as enthusiastic about the product and the concept as ever - even more than ever!
The book I've been writing illuminates important work by researchers as far back as the 1930's - work that won Nobel prizes in medicine. My book, Water: The New Wisdom, describes how each system in the body reacts to Chronic Oxygen Debt Syndrome, a condition most of us suffer from in varying degrees. The book also offers insight into how we can improve our oxygen balance and how to recognize when we're "off".
We invite comments, questions, testimonials - but most of all, we invite you to better health through drinking oxygenated water!
